Maple Tree Investment, a Singaporean government-backed real estate fund, plans to invest ¥40 billion to build Kyushu’s largest distribution center in Chikushino City. The center, which will cover a floor area of 231,600 m2, will be twice as large as the current largest facility in Kyushu. Because Kyushu is home to major automobile companies like Toyota and Honda as well as many large manufacturers of semiconductors and other components and given the increase in Fukuoka City’s population, Maple Tree anticipates increased demand for personal consumption and e-commerce. The company aims to use this new massive facility to secure customers from a wide range of sectors including automobile parts makers and appliance retailers.
