Marutai Noodles Popular with Hikers

In May 2011, Fukuoka-based Marutai started producing Yama no Bo Ramen (“stick ramen for the mountains”), a nutrient-rich version of its long-selling Bo Ramen (“stick ramen), and it remains popular among hikers. One pack of Yama no Bo Ramen contains 10% more ramen than a standard pack, and the soup contains amino acids and vitamins to help hikers regain their strength. The package was redesigned to fit better into hikers’ rucksacks, and the toppings and the soup mix were come packaged in one pouch to reduce waste. According to Marutai, its product has become a necessity for long-term mountain climbers and has even been taken to Mt. Everest. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 2/27
