McDonald’s Store Bans Unaccompanied Junior High Students

A McDonald’s restaurant in Fukuoka’s Higashi Ward temporarily posted a notice banning entry by unaccompanied students from two nearby municipal junior high schools following repeated disruptive behavior in the store, according to the Fukuoka City Board of Education. The notice listed the names of the two schools and stated the measure was taken after long-term warnings about misconduct failed to improve the situation. Since the store reopened after renovations in summer 2024, staff had repeatedly contacted the schools about students making noise and disturbing other customers. Schools responded by issuing warnings at assemblies and providing guidance to identified students and their guardians. Reports also cited students lingering for long periods and leaving trash in the restaurant. As of February 27, the notice had been removed and replaced with a general request asking customers to avoid behavior that disturbs others.
