Minamiaso Village in Kumamoto Prefecture is working to promote itself as Japan’s No.1 bakery village. The village enjoys the largest bakeries-to-population ratio in Japan and has been visited by bread lovers from outer areas. Ten shops in the town are run by native villagers and relocators and serve natural yeast bread, authentic German bread, and more.
