Miss Sake Fukuoka (Saaya Ando), wearing an exquisite kimono, dropped by the Fukuoka Now office yesterday. The former Miss Universe (Fukuoka representative, 2014) became Fukuoka’s first-ever Miss Sake 2017 in late December 2016. She says she loves sake (nihonshu) but she doesn’t claim to be an expert! Rather, her role for the next year will be to promote tourism related to Japanese sake and culture. Expect to see her at local cultural festivals including the upcoming Sakura Matsuri, Dontaku, Yamakasa, and many shrine related events. When she is not busy promoting sake culture at events she is hard at work studying the many aspects of Japanese and local culture in preparation to compete at the Miss Sake national pageant to be held in Kyoto on March 31.
