Mitsui & Co. to Create Yellow Sea Logistics Network
The Kyushu branch of Mitsui & Co. announced plans to create a logistics network for the Yellow Sea region based at the Port of Hakata that would link Japan, China, and South Korea. They are already working to form ties with a Shanghai company to create a logistics channel for the shipment of chilled and frozen items, and plan to take a 49% stake in a joint enterprise with that company in September. Mitsui plans to invest 1.44 billion yen and provide their logistics technology while using the storage and shipment capabilities of the Chinese company.
