The Miyakonojo Technical Support Center of Miyakonojo, Miyazaki Prefecture, has formed a group with five machinery manufacturers in the prefecture to produce and sell a small, portable electric power generator using wind power for the nomadic people of Mongolia. They hope to create a prototype by October and begin sales by the end of the year. The device they’ve created so far has a blade diameter of 1.6 meters, weighs nine kilograms, and is capable of generating 500 watts of power even in a breeze.
