At a regularly scheduled press conference on the 21st, Miyazaki Prefecture Governor Hideo Higashikokubaru announced that starting next year, the prefecture will work to attract companies from around the country to build large solar power generating plants there. The prefecture has the third-highest total of sunny hours per year in the nation. This is the first time a local government in Japan will implement a program to attract solar power companies to locate in its jurisdiction.
