JR Mojiko Station in Kitakyushu has been recognized as part of the Japan Nightscape Heritage for its historic architecture and nighttime illumination. Built in 1914 and restored in 2019 after extensive renovation, the wooden two-story Western-style building was Japan’s first train station designated as a national important cultural property. Kitakyushu now has 12 recognized sites, and the city plans to use the award to boost nighttime tourism in the Mojiko Retro area. Source: Kitakyushu City
