Munakata Designated a ‘SDGs Future City’

On July 17, Munakata City and 33 other regions were selected as SDGs Future Cities. The national program selects municipalities that pursue Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) based on seventeen criteria, such as preserving ecosystems and efforts to solve climate changes. The Cabinet highly valued Munakata’s efforts to continue traditions through the conservation of Munakata Taisha (designated as UNESCO World Heritage) and other natural and historical assets. It was the fourth such designation in Fukuoka Prefecture. Sources: Munakata City
