On Feb. 10 the nine yatai stalls currently operating in the Nagahama district of Chuo Ward were moved from the west side to the south side of the fish market. The move, which is part of the City’s efforts to standardize yatai operations, was made because the sidewalk was deemed too narrow at the old location. (Rules dictate that yatai set up on sidewalks must leave a 2-meter-wide walking path for pedestrians.) The new location also has a public toilet as well as proper electricity and water and sewage hookups, installed at a cost ¥17.5 million. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 2/10
