Sales of Nagasaki Prefecture-produced nori in FY 2011 fell 40% from the previous year to the lowest level in 15 years, a prefectural government report revealed. The monetary value of the sales also dropped by more than 30%. One reason cited was the low production that resulted because of the large amount of spores that failed to become attached to the nets and grow this year.
