The names of the recipients of the money were blacked out on receipts submitted by 16 Fukuoka Prefecture assembly members for political research expenditures, it was learned. As a result, it is not possible to determine how approximately 16.70 million yen in public funds was spent. The prefecture’s ombudsman has referred the matter to the assembly’s auditing committee, and a demand will be made of the assembly members to return the funds.
