Nishi-Nippon City Bank banned employees from bringing personal smartphones into office work areas after customer information appeared in videos posted on the social media app BeReal. The bank said an employee filmed inside a workplace between January and October last year, and customer names later became visible online after the footage spread on social media. President Hideyuki Murakami apologized at a May 12 press conference, saying the protection of customer information is the foundation of trust for financial institutions. The bank confirmed that the leaked material exposed the names of eight individuals and 19 companies. Source: NHK News / Yomiuri Shimbun
