Neighboring Prefectures to Accept Patients from Fukuoka – COVID-19 Infections in Fukuoka Surpass 300

The collective total of COVID-19 infections topped 300 in Fukuoka Prefecture on April 11. Local authorities announced 43 new cases across the prefecture, the largest single-day count ever. These cases included a third confirmed case involving the Yachigo Elementary School teacher in Kitakyushu City. Amongst the twenty-five cases reported in Fukuoka City, twenty-one involve unknown infection routes. On the same day, nine governors in Kyushu, Okinawa, and Yamaguchi held an online meeting and confirmed mutual support in conducting virus tests as well as to secure medical equipment. Participating prefectures will also prepare to hospitalize patients from Fukuoka, in case the number of patients in that prefecture surpasses capacity. Meanwhile, the governor of Saga strongly asked residents in Fukuoka to refrain from moving between the prefectures except in cases of emergency. Cumulative totals are on the rise in the entire Kyushu: Saga: 13 (+1), Nagasaki: 14 (+1), Kumamoto: 25 (+1), Oita: 42, Miyazaki: 17 (+1), Kagoshima: 4, Okinawa: 57 (+8), Yamaguchi: 19 (+1).
