Kyushu Solar Network was recently formed by a consortium from industry, academia, and government to promote solar power generation as a core Kyushu industry. The headquarters are located on the premises of the Kyushu Economic Research Center. Solar power companies are increasingly establishing a presence in Kyushu, but the network seeks to facilitate technical development and information sharing among related companies, research institutes, and government bodies to expand the market. In addition to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and four other solar cell manufacturers, the network consists of 18 other companies and groups from Saga and Nagasaki prefectures.
