New Bike Share Service in Miyazaki

A ceremony was held on July 24 outside Miyazaki Station to mark the start of the prefecture’s first bike rental service. Miyazaki Kotsu established a total of 14 spots around the city that can be used to pick-up and return the bicycles. The first 30 minutes will cost ¥150. After the initial half hour is finished, customers will be charged an additional ¥100 yen for every 30 minutes they use one of the bikes. An application has also been developed, which will allow users to unlock the bicycles using their smartphones. Officials hope that both business people and tourists will make use of the service in areas of the city that are not easily accessible by public transport. Source: NHK News Web, 7/25/2018
