On July 21, fifty-three cases of the novel coronavirus infection were found in the cities of Fukuoka, Kitakyushu, and Kurume. The new instances set the biggest one-day-count for Fukuoka Prefecture since the outbreak of the disease. Reflecting on the regional infection spike, Fukuoka Prefecture announced the introduction of quicker PCR-testing kits, which expand the daily testing capacity from 200 to 300. Also, it began accepting patients with no or only mild symptoms at designated hotels again. According to the prefecture, approximately 90% of current patients suffer no or mild symptoms. On the same day, the daily cases in Fukuoka City reached 39 for the first time. Sources: Mainichi / NHK / Fukuoka Prefecture
