On Apr. 1, Kyushu Yusen launched a new ferry service- connecting Hakata with the Tsushima & Iki Islands (Nagasaki Prefecture). The “Kizuna” ferry takes around 4.5 hours to reach Nagasaki Pref. from Hakata, and has a capacity of 678 passengers and 80 vehicles. The ferry’s spacious interior contains seating and an elevator. Nagasaki Pref. funded the ferry’s construction expenses to support development of the isolated islands and as a result, fares have been kept reasonable.
