A rice-product retailer in Nagasaki Prefecture, Mind Bank, developed a product to make ice cream-like rice balls. The product, Yureimai (yurei = ghost / yu = great, rei = cold) was developed to prop up the weak rice consumption during the summer. Honey, agar powder and other ingredients are added to Nagasaki-produced rice to create a smooth texture even when served cold. With a slightly sweet taste and colorful appearance, it might become the new rice sweet sensation of the season. Source: Okomedaisuki Honten, 8/3/2019
