Fukuoka Prefecture announced that they have chosen a business consortium led by Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co., Ltd (Nishitetsu) to build a food facility as part of the Tenjin Chuo Park redevelopment project. The developers plan to open the new eatery in August 2019 and aim to create a space that can help facilitate exchange. The park opened in 1989 on the site of the former prefectural offices. Efforts to redevelop the area started in 2017 after safety concerns began to arise. The prefecture has publicly stated that they want the park to be transformed into a friendly place that people can visit safely anytime of the day. Their goal is to create a charming oasis in the middle of the city. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 9/6/2018
