New Solar Panels Tested At Fukuoka Airport

Kyuden Mirai Energy will begin a demonstration project at Fukuoka Airport in December to test chalcopyrite solar cells, a new type of thin, lightweight, and flexible panel. Twelve square meters of panels will be installed on the curved roof of the international terminal to evaluate output and durability over three months. Unlike conventional silicon cells, chalcopyrite panels absorb infrared light. Combined with perovskite cells, which absorb ultraviolet light, they could significantly boost efficiency. The project also aims to raise public awareness of the new technology. Source: Kyuden Mirai Energy
