Nakagawa City, Fukuoka Prefecture, plans to install new cage traps to capture monkeys following a series of injuries caused by monkey attacks. Between September 2023 and January 2024, there were 12 reported incidents involving monkeys, leaving 15 people injured, including three children bitten near their homes in November 2023. Analysis suggests the involvement of one male and one female monkey, but they remain uncaptured.
The city has allocated ¥3.03 million in its supplementary budget for traps measuring 7m x 3m x 2.4m, to be discussed in December’s council session. Source: NHK
