As of October 1, 2020, updated waste separation rules take effect for offices and other commercial facilities inside Fukuoka City. In addition to conventional ‘burnable’ and ‘unburnable’ trash, the city requires separation of ‘used paper.’ The new category includes all recyclable paper wastes, including cardboard, newspaper, magazines, paper bags, paper boxes, and confidential documents. Such materials accounted for about 30% of the collected ‘burnable’ garbage. Also, there is a subsidy program for necessary renovations to follow the new rule. Source: Fukuoka City
