The Fukuoka-based Nishi-Nippon City Bank and seven other financial institutions announced they will provide a total of four billion yen in financing to the Medipolis Medical Research Institute of Ibuski, Kagoshima Prefecture. The institute specializes in the treatment of cancer using radiation and plans to open a facility based on treatment using particle beams to attack cancer cells. The treatment method has few side effects and does not require surgery to remove tissue from the affected area. This is particularly welcome for women suffering from breast cancer. The financing will be in the form of a 21-year syndicate loan.
