Nishi-Nippon Railroad plans to increase train fares for the first time since July 1997 on its Tenjin-Omuta and Kaizuka lines next April. Base fares will be set at ¥150, and subsequent fares will be increased in ¥10 increments, making for an average increase of 2.857%. On Dec. 17, the company submitted its rate increase application to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure Tourism and Transport.
