President and CEO of Nishi-Nippon Railroad Co Ltd. (Nishitetsu) Sumio Kuratomi revealed at a press conference on July 25 that the current diplomatic situation between Japan and South Korea has adversely affected their business. According to his announcement, Nishitetsu’s 19 domestic hotels have lost Korean guests by approximately 30% in July compared to the same month in 2018. The situation seems to have worsened after Japan tightened trade restrictions in July. The number of passengers on their tourist buses has also declined. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 7/25/2019
