In support of the three prefectures – Fukuoka, Kumamoto and Oita that were damaged by heavy rain, floods and landslides last month, the Nishinippon Shimbun is holding a fundraising event. A special local produce market is open TODAY Aug. 17, 22 and 27 from 10:00~17:00 at Elgala Passage Hiroba. You’ll find a selection of products that are unique to each prefecture– including dried bamboo shoots, green tea and pears from Yame, Yanagawa, Kurume and Asakura and more! Then, on the 20th and 21st, there will be a similar fresh produce market at Solaria Terminal’s Lion Hiroba- in which 7 major Kyushu products will be sold. Part of the proceeds will be donated by LOVE FM to the Northern Kyushu flood victim relief funds. Show your support! Source: Nishinippon Shimbun p.1, Aug 16.
