Umitamago, an aquarium in Oita Prefecture, is running a crowdfunding project to feed its sea animals. Umitamago, which is home to about 15,000 fish and animals, has seen a reduced number of visitors during the past months under the impact of the new coronavirus spread. To secure its annual feeding budget of some ¥40 million, funds have been sought from Nov. 21. Unique rewards, including ottar handprints (¥15,000~), penguin foot-printed T-shirts (*made from actual footprints! ¥20,000~), and more, have attracted people’s attention, and the project has raised over ¥9 million as of Dec. 22.
