Regular charter flights between Oita Airport and Taiwan’s Taoyuan International Airport resumed on April 2, marking the first direct air link in eight years. Operated twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays by low-cost carrier Tigerair Taiwan, the flights will run through October. The 180-seat aircraft allocates around 50 seats for Japanese travelers. Local officials welcomed the first arriving flight with a ceremony and mascots. The governor of Oita expressed hopes for deepened tourism and economic ties.
