Oita To Reintroduce Hovercraft Service

On March 4, Oita Prefecture announced that it would reintroduce the hovercraft as a means of public transportation connecting Oita Airport with the central area of Oita City in 2023. The vehicle, which can travel over flat land and on water, operated on the same route between 1971 to 2009. The prefecture plans to appropriate a budget of ¥7.5 billion to restart the operation as it sees an increase in the number of people using Oita Airport. Travel time between the two places will be shortened to 25 minutes. Source: NHK
