Omura City in Nagasaki Prefecture signed an agreement with Juhachi-Shinwa Bank and mapping company Zenrin to promote the use of vacant homes through a new digital service. The initiative marked the first nationwide trial of Zenrin’s platform, which allowed property owners to register vacant homes and verify identity entirely via smartphone. Over a six-month period, the city and bank would introduce the service to owners, while the bank shared property information with local real estate firms based on owner preferences. The project aimed to improve vacant home management and increase the supply of affordable used housing amid rising prices. Omura City hoped the effort would also support family settlement and long-term community growth. Source: Omura city /18Shinwabank / Zenrin / Nikkei
