Nishinipppon Railroad, JR Kyushu Karatsu, Saga-based Showa Jidosha and Fukuoka City have teamed up to sell the Fukuoka City Tourist Pass, a one-day ticket for foreign visitors good for buses and trains within the Fukuoka city limits . The partners began trial sales of the pass last September and decided to continue offering it in response to brisk demand. The City Transportation Bureau set an initial target of 12,000 passes for the first year and has already sold 15,000. The bulk of survey respondents said they liked the pass for its convenience and reasonable cost. Passes for transit within Fukuoka City cost ¥800, while those that include service to Dazaifu on the Nishitetsu Omuta Line cost ¥1,300. Passes are available for sale at Fukuoka Airport, Hakata Station and the International Terminal at Hakata Port, and visitors are required to show their passports to buy one. The passes can also be used to receive special bonuses at 18 local facilities. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun 9/20
