Fukuoka City has installed next-generation perovskite solar panels on the roof of its startup support center, Fukuoka Growth Next (FGN). Developed by Sekisui Chemical, the waterproof-integrated film-type panels cover about 80 square meters and are part of a national first for public facility implementation. The pilot project aims to test commercial viability by FY2025, focusing on efficiency and durability.
Additional panels have been installed on the roof of Kashii-hama Elementary School’s gymnasium, covering 200 square meters—the largest installation of its kind in Japan. The city plans further installations, including on the PayPay Dome, to promote renewable energy use in urban infrastructure. Source: Fukuoka City Mayor official facebook / NHK
