The Kyushu Bureau of Economy, Trade, and Industry has conducted a survey of Kyushu companies and those aged 60 and older. The bureau estimates there are about 500,000 of that age group in the region who would like to work, but have no job. With the workforce declining due to the aging of society, the bureau recommends that efforts should be made to better utilize this labor pool.
