A second meeting to plan for an improved environment for pedestrian and vehicular traffic between Hakata and Tenjin took place on June 24. Local leaders and specialists discussed four different schemes to create a better environment along Kokutaidoro Avenue (Area: Gion-nishi ~ Watanabedori 4 chome,) based on a public survey. The short-term schemes included removing trees and other plants to secure more space for bicycles and pedestrians, while long-term plans include the construction of broader pedestrian ways and bus lanes. The team also agreed to openly seek proposals for the redevelopment of the detour bridge of Haruyoshi Bridge after the reopening of the original route. Source: Kensetsu News
