Record High 388 New C19 Cases Yesterday in Fukuoka Prefecture

On January 7, Fukuoka Prefecture recorded a record high 388 cases of the new coronavirus infections. The cumulative total topped the ten thousand mark, reaching 10,367. A record-high 4,054 screenings were conducted within a day and marked a positive rate of 9.6%. As of January 6, the hospital bed occupancy rate was 64.3%, surpassing the national criterion for the ‘stage IV’ (worst level of the virus spread.) Also, the occupancy rate of critical-care beds was at 18.2%. The prefecture plans to hold a special meeting on January 8 to decide how to tackle the situation. Source: RKB / NHK
