Record Number of Foreign Workers in Fukuoka Prefecture: 64,990

The Fukuoka Labour Bureau reported that by the end of October 2023, the prefecture had 64,990 foreign workers, a 13% increase (7,597 workers) from the previous year, setting a record for the second year in a row. The most significant growth was in the visas for highly skilled professionals, such as system engineers and interpreters, which surged by 29% to 15,434 individuals. Vietnamese nationals constitute the majority of these workers, with Nepalese and Chinese nationals following. Additionally, the count of businesses employing foreign workers has also hit an all-time high. Source: FIBA
