Fukuoka City-based Mitsui Matsushima formally announced it would begin a recycling operation next year at Ikejima in Nagasaki City, the last Kyushu coal mine, which shut down in 2001. The recycling enterprise will include shredding disposed automobiles. The company is investing 2.9 billion yen in the enterprise.
