The first meeting of the “Urban Development Planning Committee” for the redevelopment of the area surrounding Nishitetsu Kurume Station, Kurume City’s busiest commercial district, was held. The committee, consisting of 13 experts, city officials, and urban planning representatives, discussed the current state and challenges of the area. The group agreed to finalize a proposal by June 2025, which will guide future developments. While the station area has remained largely unchanged since a redevelopment project 40 years ago, the city seeks a new vision to accommodate future growth and improve urban infrastructure.
