The Kyushu Department Store Association announced on the 19th that sales for 28 stores in the Kyushu-Okinawa region in 2008 dropped 4.7% from the previous year to 681.268 billion yen. This was the sixth consecutive annual sales decline for regional department stores. Reworked on a same-store basis to factor out changes since 2001, it was the largest decline in sales ever recorded.
