Residential Districts Increasing in Fukuoka

The amount of residential districts in Fukuoka Prefecture has increased for the fourth consecutive year. There is a particularly strong demand for housing in the central and eastern areas of Fukuoka City such as Chihaya. This has resulted in the construction of new condominiums and apartment blocks. The number of cities and towns in the prefecture has risen from 21 to 25. Other prefectures in Kyushu, including Saga, have also recorded growth in their residential districts. Housing in places such as Tosu City are currently in short supply due to a surge in the local population. Tosu has proven popular with people who commute to Fukuoka City for work.
