This year, Saga Prefecture established independent recognition standards for non-registered day care facilities to ensure a safe environment for children. These standards were formulated after a child died in July 2007 at a non-registered facility in Kitakyushu. On the 6th, it was revealed that the prefecture had awarded safety certificates to 11 of these facilities.
