Saibu Gas Reports Contract Losses

Saibu Gas revealed that it has lost a significant percentage of customers who switched from gas to electricity contracts. At a press conference on October 29, the company announced its interim consolidated financial results for the last six months. While their net profit increased by 23.7% mainly due to higher gas prices and real estate sales, it was also revealed that approximately 19,000 customers have canceled their contracts to shifted to electricity contracts with Kyushu Electric Power. The trend began in 2017 when the gas retail market was fully liberalized and the number of customers totaled over 111,000. Source: The Sankei News, 10/30/2019
