Schools in Munakata City have initiated a “straw-less” campaign to reduce plastic waste, starting with Hinosato Middle School. Milk cartons have been redesigned to make straw-free drinking easy. The initiative is expected to cut around 530 kilograms of plastic waste annually. Additionally, over 90% of municipalities in the prefecture are also moving towards straw-less milk in school lunches.
