Seven Arrested in Cannabis Case

Police have arrested seven people, including a 22-year-old man from Fukuoka City, on suspicion of illegally selling cannabis liquid in Kitakyushu, saying the operation may be linked to a tokuryu, or anonymous and fluid organized crime group. The suspects, aged 19 to 40, allegedly transferred cannabis liquid for profit in Kokurakita Ward in May in violation of Japan’s Narcotics Control Act. A separate 20-year-old suspect was also referred to prosecutors after allegedly possessing cannabis in Kokuraminami Ward in February. Investigators said the group used encrypted messaging apps to coordinate drug sales. Four of those arrested, including the alleged ringleader, are from Kobe. Police have not disclosed whether the suspects admit or deny the allegations because the investigation is ongoing. Source: NHK / TNC News
