Fukuoka Shinkin Bank and six other shinkin banks in the prefecture have amended their articles of incorporation to extend their business operations throughout the prefecture. They will join with Fukuoka Hibiki Shinkin Bank of Kitakyushu to provide financing for large projects throughout the prefecture to compete with regional banks in this sector. The risk is too great for an individual shinkin bank to make loans at the billion yen-level on their own, but working as part of a group minimizes that risk. The group hopes to provide financing up to 10 billion yen.
