Shiomi Yagura to Open March 17 After Full Restoration

Fukuoka City has completed the restoration of the historical Shiomi Yagura, which will open to the public on March 17 at 10:00 a.m. The project, initiated in 2023, used original Edo-era components and traditional construction techniques. The structure was relocated to Sofuku-ji Temple in 1908 and was later identified in a 1991 city survey as the former Shiomi Yagura. Guided walking tours around Fukuoka Castle will be offered on weekends and holidays during the Sakura Festival. The city is also seeking donations for its Fukuoka Castle Restoration Fund.
