An organization formed by Fukuoka-based shrines advises people to plan their hatsumode new year visits between December 2020 and February 2021. To avoid congestion during the new year holidays (Jan. 1 ~ 3), some shrines will begin displaying seasonal items from Dec. 1. Visits to smaller shrines instead of famous hatsumode spots are also recommended. The group also requested Fukuoka Prefecture to develop guidelines to support new year operations at local shrines.
