Fukuoka City-based marketing survey company G-Com revealed the results of an Internet survey it conducted in May of 400 women in the prefecture above the age of 18 regarding their shopping habits. The survey shows an increasing trend for women in their 30s and 40s to shun the Tenjin district in Fukuoka City for suburban shopping centers. With competition expected to intensify with the opening of the Kyushu Shinkansen in 2011, G-Com warns that even Tenjin merchants will have to exert more effort to attract customers.
